I can see clearly now...

because we had our windows replaced! Yay!

When we moved in to our house, we took on a few different projects. Kitchen, painting, etc, etc. We knew that the windows would need to be replaced down the road, but it wasn't one of our top priorities.

Until the rain started coming in.

Turns out that those original windows were more than an eye sore. They were also leaky during hard rainstorms where the rain blew horizontally at the house. Yeah, exactly- who knew?

So, before the end of 2010, thanks to Lowe's and Pella, we cashed in for our energy efficiency tax credit and said goodbye to our old windows and sliding back door. The new dual-pane, argon insulated, vinyl windows are warmer than our old metal framed single-pane windows, have screens and aren't painted shut so we can actually open the windows!
And they look SO much better. I am so happy with them!

Outdoor Dining

A few weeks ago (before it was SNOWING in March- yuck) Steve and I had our first outdoor dining experience of the season. I love grilling out and eating outside- it is one of my favorite spring/summer treats. So, on the very first warm evening of the year, we were outside- grilling and having dinner on our new teak patio set. A first ever, since purchasing it at Thanksgiving.

Steve grilled steak and fish, we had a fresh salad and cold beverages. It was the perfect kick-off to outdoor dining season.

Now, if only it would get warm again so we can make this a regular occurrence!

Sweet Frog- Summer Flavors

Sunday night we had an amazing dinner at Downtown Grille to celebrate our anniversary. Dinner was amazing and the restaurant is so beautiful inside. After thoroughly enjoying our crab cakes (me) and New York Strip (Steve) we headed next door for dessert at Sweet Frog.
Sweet Frog is a tasty frozen yogurt shop. The flavors change and you can add your own toppings. It's yummy.

This weekend they had the best 2 flavors I have ever had- Georgia Peach and Pineapple. They were so flavorful and tasted just like sweet peaches and juicy pineapple. I loved it.

If there is a Sweet Frog near you, it is definitely worth a trip over to see if they have these two amazing flavors!

Dresser Remodel

Finally, I have completed the Ethan Allen dresser remodel! Yay!

I purchased this Ethan Allen dresser at an estate sale for a mere $37.50. Amazing- right?

Well, if you're not blown away yet, you will be. Keep reading.

After a little hard work- removing the pulls and knobs, sanding, wiping, staining.

Ordering the new hardware- and waiting... it took over a month for all of the pulls to come in, due to them being on back order, hence, the delayed completion of the project!

TA DA! Dresser was completed this weekend. Steve even screwed in the final hardware. Now we have a brand new (looking!) dresser in our guest room all for... are you ready? UNDER $100.

Or you could go get this one from Restoration Hardware for over $2000. Without a mirror.

Impressed now? :o)

Ski Bunnies: Copper, Colorado 2011

Earlier this month, we were in Copper, Colorado visiting our friends Keith and Sharon.

It was an amazing trip and we had so much fun! The skiing awesome, but spending time with our hosts was even better. We had a blast (despite the cold temperatures) and got to see some pretty cool things while we were out west.
We had a couple of inches of snow each night, so every morning there was a blanket of fresh snow for us.

After a simply delicious breakfast of Belgian Waffles (so amazing that you didn't even need syrup- it was almost like a cinnamon bun-yummy) and coffee, we spent most of the day on the slopes.

We also visited Vail ( Los Amigos) and Breckenridge (Kenosha- it was SO delicious) for dinners, drinks and shopping a couple of nights, as well as a day excursion to historic Leadville one of the days we were there. The night before heading back to Virginia, we spent shopping and looking around Denver. On our way from Copper to Denver, we stopped at Red Rocks and looked around the venue. Posts to come with more photos!

Most amazing Belgian Waffles EVER...

Here are some videos that Keith was able to shoot (while skiing) of us "in action."

First Year as Mr. and Mrs.

Today marks the one year anniversary of our wedding day!

What an amazing year it has been. So many big changes- graduation from dental school, buying our first home, moving to Charlottesville, Steve starting law school, me starting to work full time- it has been a wonderful, exciting and amazingly fast first year as husband and wife.

Thinking about last year at this time, and how much fun we had in Florida with so many of our friends and family brings back such great memories!  Here are some of our favorites:
